CAESAR’S GUARD

Caesar’s Guard is a journey of three men charged with dereliction of duty during the fall of the Roman Republic. Judged by generals, counsels, and kings who are guilty of their own crimes, Caesar’s Guard face harsh consequences.

This epic poem transcends time where war, duty, and regret await them all. Well-known are reasons for the Republics’ fall. The first dominoes, however, are more elusive. Dating to 275 BC, a distant great-great-great-grandfather of Sulla was disgraced for hiding wealth. This made easy work for an egotistical and powerful Marius to attack the man and the name of Sulla. The door for civil war was open and the Republic begins to fall. Ending with the death of Marc Antony, Octavian ascends to the throne as Emperor of Rome. The war is over, the Republic is gone, and Caesar’s Guard is thrown in a drama in which the guilty must atone.
